It's a Jungle Out There!

Hey stamper friends!   I have two cards to share with you today.  I used a stamp set I recently purchased from Papertrey Ink called It's a Jungle Out There on both.

I made my first card for the Queen for the Day Challenge over at Split Coast.  I just had to play as my stamping buddy Karen was the Queen!   I chose to CASE her cute Zebra's Have Stripes card.

I changed the zebra to a giraffe and the colors to tans and browns and added die cut grass as well as a ribbon (instead of buttons)

This giraffe is a fun two step stamp from Papertrey Ink that I just got - I LOVE how it stamps.  First you die cut the shape, then you stamp the solid background giraffe - then you stamp the spots with a darker color!   I also bought the animal dies that go with the set so its easy to cut, stamp and use these very fun realistic looking animals!

My second card was made for today's color challenge over at Split Coast  - Mary, our hostess this week, has asked us to use Pool Party, Wild Wasabi and Chocolate Chip.

I used the sweet little zebra from the stamp set for this card - just stamping the stripes this time (not the solid background) since I wanted the background to be white!  All the sentiments are from the same animal set.
The leaf is from the Foliage set by Spellbinders and the die for the grass is from MFT!

I embossed a Nestability square on my card than adhered the leaf over it. I embossed the brown panel with Forest Branches and layered the stamped zebra that I cut with zebra die onto the panel with foam tape. I die cut the grass and adhered that with foam tape as well.

Finally I stamped the sentiments right on the card and added a little bling accent.  My dessert option (which could be whatever we wanted this week)  - was to use dies on my card! I used 4 of them!!

So be careful dear stampers - It's a Jungle Out There!!!

Three Sweet 'n Sassy for Summer!

Here are 3  summertime cards I've made this past week for various Split Coast Challenges.  All of them are made with stamps or digital images from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps

My first card was made for last week's color challenge - Peggy gave us a monochromatic pallet of pinks -  Pink Pirouette, Melon Mambo and Regal Rose.  I didn't have all the SU colors so I improvised using 3 shades of pink that I had!

I paper pieced the shells, cutting them out and popping them up on the sentiment circle with foam tape.   The stamps are from Beauty by the Sea.

My second card was made for Sunday's Featured stamper who was StamperCamper. I loved the wonderful coloring on the sun on her Sail Away card .  I used a lighthouse instead of a sailboat and added the sentiment and rhinestones on my card.

And finally - I made this beach card for the SCS sketch challenge - which Korin - owner of Sweet n' Sassy Stamps - hosted this week.

I colored the image with Copics, cut it out a little outside the edges and adhered it to the patterned paper panel with foam tape.

The sweet little mice building the sandcastle is a digi image called Cocoa and Cookie's Sand Castle and the sentiment is from the Beauty by the Sea stamp set.
I suddenly feel like taking a drive to the ocean and smelling that sweet salt air -  do you??!!!

I'm lucky enough to live about 5 miles away from the Atlantic Ocean on the northeast coast of the USA so I could hop in my car and go! -  well - if I'm not at work or stamping that is.... !!

Make a Wish!

Happy Tuesday dear stamping friends!
I made this card for the color challenge over on Split Coast today - Joanne gave us Certainly Celery, So Saffron and Blushing Bride to work with this week. A lovely combination!

My stamps are from the May release called Butterfly Kisses over at The Crafts Meow. Isn't this the sweetest little butterfly fairy?!!  I sponged over her wings and around the edges with pink ink to give the black silhouette stamping a little color.  I love the texture of the asparagus Coredinations paper too!

I even got the dessert option of flowers in - she's blowing on a dandelion and making a wish!

I loosely used the Clean and Simple #139 sketch for my card design today.

Thanks so much for coming by!

You Light Up My Life! A Sweet N Sassy "Sweet Peak"

I can finally share some fun news with you all - a few months ago Korin Sutherland, owner/designer of Sweet N Sassy stamps invited me to join her DT for 3 months starting in May!  I just love her sweet images as well as the many Faith based sets she has.

So here is my first project - a "sweet peak" of a set being released on May 1 - called Shining Light.  I've used two of the stamps in this set for my card today - the lovely light house and one of the many sentiments.

I used the colors from today's color challenge over on Split Coast which I just happened to be hosting this week!!   The colors are Certainly Celery, Baja Breeze and Bashful Blue. Just click on the image to see it larger.

My sketch is from the Get Sketchy Challenge.

First I stamped the lighthouse image than cut it out with a Petite Oval Nestability.  I sponged the 3 challenge colors over the image adding a little Scattered Straw around the light.  Then I removed the panel from the die.  I embossed the green panel with text, sponged and distressed the edges, layered that to a blue sponged panel and then adhered it all to the white card.  I punched the heart from a white scrap, stamped the sentiment on it, sponged the edges and added a few gems.  I adhered it over the twill with foam tape.

This would make a great 'guy' card don't you think?

You'll find more info and pics of this lovely new set over at the Sweet N Sassy blog.  It will be available for purchase on May 1!

Stamps:  Sweet N Sassy Stamps - Shining Light

A Little Child to Love and Treasure

I made this sweet baby card for the Color Challenge on Split Coast this week - the colors Peggy gave us to use  - So Saffron, Pretty in Pink, and Pear Pizazz.  Great colors for spring aren't they?!   I thought they were super for a new little baby card too!   Just click on the pic to see it larger.

I used this weeks Taylored Expressions sketch for my card.

I colored bunny with Copics, cut him/her out and adhered him/her to the embossed panel with foam tape.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it close to the edges all around.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Something fun!!!    The Friends of WMS Blog waltz is coming up in the Playroom of  the WMS forum on 4/17  the theme is Easter!  You'll find the deets here or just click on the Blog Waltz pic on my side bar!  Hope you will join us in the fun!

A Pinwheel Celebration

I made my card for this week's Color Challenge on Split Coast.  Karen Barber was our color hostess and her choices for us: Poppy Parade, Baja Breeze and Pear Pizzazz. Pretty combo huh?!

I made this fun pinwheel using a mix of the challenge colors on these pretty patterned papers.

I totally cased this design from my good stampng friend Charlene who cased it from Karen Dunbrook! Don't we just love sharing ideas in the paper crafting world??!!

For my pinwheel - I used four 1 1/2" squares - cut them in half corner to corner, rounded the corners then lined them up as shown! My card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4".  I adhered them with foam tape How fun is this? A great party card isn't it - you could celebrate anything with this fun design!

Colorful Pansies and a Timeless Dance

Pansies are one of my favorite flowers with their sweet little 'faces' and beautiful colors - every spring they are one of the first flowers I plant in my garden.

I made this card to help Karen Barber illustrate her color challenge over at Split Coast this week. She chose Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush and Bashful Blue for us to use, a lovely combination don't you think? Her dessert option was to use a white gel pen on our creation.

For my card, I first dry embossed a deckled oval Nestability in the center of the card. I used copics in colors similar to the three challenge colors for my cluster of pansies. I cut out the image and adhered it inside the frame with foam tape. Finally, I added yellow stickles to the center of my pansies and some dots with a white gel pen.

My pretty pansie stamp is from Rubbernecker

Stamps: Rubbernecker - Pansies #506-04
Paper: white - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

This week the Split Coast teaparty honored Roxie our long suffering SCS Sketch Challenge hostess! We all headed off to the Roxbury for a wild night of dancing! I'm bringing a rather sedate victorian couple to add a little class to the evening (if that's at all possible!! LOL!!!) but boy can they 'cut a rug' - look at those pointed toes and uplifted elbows!

There is absolutley no stamping on my card today (gasp) just a focus on the dance and the sketch (which is last week's SCS sketch)

This lovely image came from Dover Publications who publishes copyright free images on disk that you can download, resize and print to your heart's content!

I added some ice stickles to the ladies hair ribbon, shoulder and edge of her dress and a little to the man's waistcoat for some shimmer.

Hope you can stop by on Sunday - all of the Rubbernecker DT will be previewing some brand new stamps being released on Tuesday 3/15. There will be a chance to win free Rubbernecker stamps - whoo hoo!! and check out the newly refurbished Rubbernecker Blog!

Three for Rubbernecker

Here are 3 cards I made this week for challenges over on Split Coast.
I made this cute lil' cowboy card as a CASE of Featured Stamper StampGroover's Poor Dat card. I changed the image to a cowboy and used different colors. Instead of popping up some of the image I paper pieced him. Isn't he a cute little guy?!
This card was made for Saturday's Inspiration Challenge. Steph showed us a wall decal art web shop and I chose this Prairie Vegetation design. I black embossed several different floral stamps from Rubbernecker sponged the edges and added a pink butterfly in the corner. This also works for Thursdays Ways to Use It Challenge - to use silhouettes on your card.

And my third card was made for the color challenge - Betty's colors this week were Always Artichoke, Perfect Plum and Rose Red - her dessert option was to use hardware. I always find color challenges - well - a real challenge!! So I used mostly purple on my card - getting the green in with a ribbon and adding just a touch of red with the butterfly, the gems and a jeweled pin in the ribbon (does a pin count as hardware??!)
This is also for Da Mudder's Teapot Tuesday challenge - where we were to illustrate the Best of the Best or the Worst of the Worst for the A-card-a-me Awards. I'm illustrating the Best of the Best ie - a lovely fashion lady!
This card will go postal to Lauren - a young actress who has had to put her career on hold due to some health issues - we hope our best and worst cards will bring a smile to her face!
Well dear friends - we're halfway to the weekend - whoo hoo!
If I don't see you before - I hope you'll stop by on Saturday when all the Waltzingmouse DT will start sneak peeking the March 1 new release stamp sets!
Oh - and if you have a minute --check out the sympathy card I made for PSA Essentials - thanks!

Whootin Hi and a Sunny Sky!

Last week's Teaparty over on Split Coast was all about the owls - specifically Whooligan Harry sittin in the tree. Well - funny thing - I was walking through the woods behind my house and lo and behold!! I came upon Whooligan Harry and he WAS actually sittin in the tree!! what are the chances?!?!?!

So here he is on my card - in the winter bare tree with the stars shining in the sky. I stamped two encouraging Bible Verses inside as this card will be going postal to Marie - a quadriplegic due to MS - who can only move her head - who somehow still manages to stay in good spirits. We're hoping that each owl card that arrives will bring a smile to her face!

I was happy to help Peggy illustrate last week's SCS color challenge with this card. Peggy's color choices were Wild Wasabi green, So Saffron yellow and Pacific Point blue.

I framed a sunny sky scene for my card using PTI cloud dies and a Lacey circle nestie die for the sun. I sponged over the chipboard frame to give it some color and added a bow of three different colored twine to the corner for the dessert option!

This lovely birthday verse is from Rubbernecker

Embrace Your Dreams in Color!

Karen Barber was our fearless Color Challenge hostess this week over on Split Coast and boy - did she pick 'challenging' colors! Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, and the kicker - Not Quite Navy. I had a lot of trouble working the dark color into my design!

After tearing up several attempts (!) I finally got to something I ending up liking - a very CAS design using a single frond that I stamped three times in two of the challenge colors (orange and yellow) I used Scattered Straw to sponge all the edges.

I got the blue into my card with the ribbon (which also covers the dessert option even though it's not WIDE ribbon!) as well as the framing panel.

I adhered a strip of pretty lace under the beribboned sentiment.

I find color challenges to be the hardest for me - I'll take a sketch challenge any day!

Stamps: Rubbernecker: Floral Silhouettes #467
Paper: White - PTI, Blue - Coordinations

Three Colors of Sympathy

Betty Wright has invited me to host some of theTuesday color challenges over on Split Coast for the next three months and today was my first time! Whoo hoo!! Boy - it's tricky choosing colors that haven't been done before!! And, of course, you want to pick colors people want to use while still being challenged!

So - for my first shot out of the gate I chose 3 neutral colors - white, basic gray, and river rock. There's also a 'dessert option' that goes with the challenge - something extra you can do on your card if you want to - I chose using a background stamp as my dessert option this week.

First, I dry embossed a square Nestability frame on the card. You can see my tutorial on how to do this here.

I stamped the background text across the River Rock panel and adhered it to a gray panel. Then I adhered the panels inside the frame. Next, I stamped the label, sentiment and scrolly and cut it with a Labels 10 Nestability. I adhered the label to the text panel using foam tape and added one little jewel to the scroll.

So what do you think of the 3 colors I chose??? Let me know if you make a card using them!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Text It, Asian Garden Additions, Very Vintage Labels No. 10
Paper: River Rock, Basic Gray - SU, White - PTI

Every Time I Thought of You

Hello dear friends!! I was home from work last Wednesday because we had a blizzard with over a foot fallen (as well as many tree branches because it was a wet heavy snow!) - and so I got to stamp!

I combined 3 SCS challenges for my card - the weekly sketch, the Teaparty challenge (gold & flowered teapot) as well as the color challenge (use 3 shades of pink)

I gold embossed my Bed of Roses stamp by Rubbernecker on the framed panel. I made my flowers from mulberry paper - cutting a circle into a swirl and rolling it up starting at the outside edge. Then I cut my sentiment with a scalloped Nestie tag adhereing it with foam tape and added a ribbon. I sponged the edges of both the embossed panel and the tag with Antique Linen Distress ink.

This card will be going to Katie Renz who was the Destination Station for the Teapot challenge - you can see her story here. You can also find details on purchasing a great combination of digital stamps with proceeds benefiting Katie on Jak Heath's Blog post here.
You can find my tutorial for making the flowers on this post here

You're in My Thoughts with Blessings

Hello dear friends! I have a couple of SCS challenge cards to share today -

First for Sunday's Featured Stamper challenge over at Split Coast - this week it was Krischir - I cased her Thinking of You Card

I made a 3x3 tag rather than a card to slip in a note or attach to a gift - I used a basket instead of a vase and a bee instead of birds! My stamps are all from Rubbernecker

Stamps: Rubbernecker - Create a Garden Set #512, Petite Word set #2000
Paper: white - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Distress - Tea dye, peeled paint, antique linen, wild honey, faded jeans, worn lipstick,
Accessories: Nestabilities Labels Three, gold stickles, copics - E00, E19, E34, Y13, circle punches, glue dots

Next I have an ornament shaped card with a kitty on it for 2 SCS challenges. First the Teapot Tuesday challenge was inspired by a teapot with a finch on it - that turned into a story about birds, cats, and bungy jumping (you know how these stories go!)

Second for the color challenge I used the required red, old olive and river rock and got extra credit for making it Christmas!

I'll be back on Saturday with my card for this weeks Waltzingmouse Sketch - and there's something exciting starting on Monday 12/6 - I'll have more details on Saturday!!

Stamps: Marks Finest Papers - Tweet Blessings
Paper: Naturals Ivory - SU, Text Style Rustic Snowflake - PTI

Three from Split Coast

Happy Thursday dear stamping friends - the weekends coming!! I have three cards from SCS challenges to share with you today.
This week's CAS (Clean and Simple) challenge was to use Fall Colors - Kraft, red, vanilla and brown (orange optional).

I colored my stamp with Stampin Up markers, stamped it and then sponged a little orange over the forest floor. I used my Nestability circles to cut the image as well as a brown and red framing. I sponged everything with Tea Dye Ink and added a brown button!

My stamp is Birch Forest from Rubbernecker Stamps the card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4 ".

Stamps: Rubbernecker - Trees, Birch Forest 66-01
Paper: Kraft, Vintage Cream - PTI, Close to Cocoa, Ruby Red - SU
Ink: pumpkin pie - SU, Ranger Distress Tea Dye
Accessories: SU Markers - Ruby Red, close to cocoa, sponge, circles Nestabilities, glue dot, VIntage Button & Silk ribbon- PTI

I was honored when Betty asked me to make a card sample for her color challenge on SCS this week. The challenge colors were Cajun Craze, Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi (SU) I didn't have Cajun Craze so I used Rusty Hinge Ranger Distress Ink for that color.

I stamped my trees on white, cut the panel with Labels Nine Nestabilities, then sponged over the trees with Baja Breeze and Wild Wasabi before taking it out of the die.

Betty always includes a dessert option with her challenge - something extra to do on your card if you want to - this week it was to use chicklets (single squares of letters making up a sentiment) or strip sentiments. I stamped Happy Thanksgiving, then cut it in half and mounted it separately.

My stamps are from the set called Teeny Trees by Waltzingmouse Stamps

Paper: White, Text Style Green Boutique - PTI
Ink: Ranger Distress Rusty Hinge, Baja Breeze & Wild Wasabi - SU, Memento Rich Cocoa

And finaly, for this week's teaparty we're heading off to California - to have tea with BertLady and her two cats who recently moved there - you can read the whole story here

As soon as I saw the two kitties on Cindy's inspiration teapot - I thought of this great picture of my own two cats - Scout and Boo (named after characters in To Kill a Mockingbird) Boo is the one in back and Scout is in front (they were actually sitting like this on our diningroom table when I took this pic!!) Don't they look like they have little smiles on their faces?? They are letting BertLady's cats know they will be missed! The sentiment is from Free Spirit Sentiments by Waltzingmouse.

The colors are this weeks SCS color challenge.

Come Away with Me!

I made this card for the color challenge over on Split Coast which, not having the SU colors listed, I interpreted as orangey, bluey and browney! (and I know there are a few rogue colors snuck in there on my DP too!! LOL!!!)

I stamped right on my patterned designer paper so I hit the dessert option too!
I chose my design and stamps for Tuesdays Tea Party challenge on Split Coast - which was to show 'Pure relaxation at the beach' - while we are drinking tea!
After stamping and distressing - I spritzed my card with gold perfect pearls mixed with water - so there is a shimmer on this card IRL. I also swiped some Mustard Seed Distress Ink down the center to give it a sunny glow!
My stamps are all by Waltzingmouse , the waves, bike, surf board and skateboarder from Free Spirit Boy and the sentiment and tea cup from Afternoon Tea.
My beach card will be going postal to Elaine who is ill and dreams of the ocean. You can check out the whole teaparty story here including a link to Elaine's story if you'd like to send her a card too!

This great image is Demetri one of the new African American figures from Rubbernecker Stamps I clear embossed the image using brown and Versamark inks, colored it, cut it out and adhered it to the Labels Ten nestie panel with foam dimensionals. The card base is embossed with the Distressed Stripes Cuttlebug folder.

Tonight DH and I are going to live life! We're going out to eat at Jacob Wirth's and then to the Lyric Stage to see Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit - fun way to start the weekend!

What are your weekend plans??!

I used the Split Coast color challenge Apricot, sage, grey - Mercy's Tuesday Sketch, and the The Cat's Pajamas Tuesday challenge was to use cork.

And I'm bringing my little flying doggie (Angel Yappy) to da Mudder's Teaparty - which is at the Kentucky Derby this week - we have to ride something there to participate in the race because all of the horses went on strike - Yikes I hope flying counts!?!?! LOL!! Read all about the Split CoastTuesday Teaparty craziness here.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Stamps: The Cats Pajamas - Angel Yappy, Love Comet, I Ruff You

Hugs for Lindsay

What a fun combination of Cards for a Cause Challenges over on Split Coast - For this weeks Teaparty Challenge we have to show up Aquilta the Hun with our quilting prowess and for the color challenge we need to use green, blue and raspberry.

AND this month we are sending our cards (if they are pretty enough!) to Lindsay, a young mother-to-be who has been diagnosed with cancer and needs our prayers and encouragement. Some great reason to make a card huh?!

I made my plaid pattern paper using one of the stamps from Off Beat Backgrounds and the hearts and sentiment are from Sewing Box Hugs both by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The sentiment frame is Spellbinders Fancy tags but I cut the fleur de lis ends off as they were too fancy for this homespun quilt card!

I sewed around the circle twice and sponged all the edges with So Saffron Ink. The heart stamps already have the stitches on them so that part was easy peasy!!

And I tucked in another challenge here - the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World! whooo hoo!!! This was the picture to inspire us.
Thanks Cindy for inspiring us to be conscientious card makers!
