Batty In Love

I'm sure you have all heard about Kim Hughes new stamp company - PaperSmooches. I love her cute characters and the great fonts she uses for her sentiments!

Well, she announced that the first Thursday of each month you can link a card or project on her blog using Papersmooches stamps and she will choose a guest designer from the entries for the next month - you can read all about it here.

So - anyhoo - here is a card I made using the Papersmooches set Falling for You to enter into today's contest.

So this could be a Valentine's Day Card with the Batty in Love sentiment - or a Halloween card for your loved one!! LOL!!

Wish me luck!?

Stamps: Paper Smooches - Falling for You
Paper: Kraft - Gina K, Black - SU, Summer Sunrise & Plum Pudding - PTI
Ink: Versafine Onyx Black, Ranger Distress Stormy Sky & Tea Dye
Accessories: Bare Tree Sizzix Die #38-0207, quickie glue pen, foam tape, circle punch - SU.

A Valentine for Kent

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Thought I'd share the card I made for my DH Kent this year.

I was inspired by a card I saw at CVS last week when I was picking up a little chocolate treat to give Kent with his card. As soon as I saw the card - I knew I could re-create it with my Waltzingmouse Stamps - it was like the person had used these very stamps to make it!

The store card had a little more shimmer and a red ribbon on it - but I thought I'd keep it clean for DH. I white embossed the frippery on the black panel and black embossed the rose and leaves. I cut out the leaves and rose, adhereing the leaves over the frippery and adhereing the rose over the leaves with foam tape. Then I stamped my sentiment cutting around the shapes of the letters and adhered that with foam tape. I really love how this came out and I think Kent will like it too! (especially with the giant Reeses heart I'm giving him with it!) LOL!!

Inside I stamped two sentiments from Seasons of Love Tags and Sweet Hearts.

I hope you got a pretty card today from someone in your life and that you gave some too!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Roses in Bloom, Sweet Hearts, Victorian Frippery, Seasons of Love Tags.
Paper: White- PTI, green, red, black - Coredinations
Ink: Versofine onyx black, Versamark.
Accessories: Black & white embossing powder, hot gun, foam tape.

Treats For My Valentine!

If you foll0w my blog at all - then you know how much I LOVE making treat containers! Thought I'd share a few that I made for a Valentine's Sale at my church last week.

I got these pails at Target last year on sale, after season. I decorated them with some stampings and slipped a box of crayons, a pad of paper and some candies inside! The stamps are Waltzingmouse, Rubbernecker and Papertrey Ink.

Stamps: Heart - Sweet Hearts/Waltzingmouse, Happy Valentine's Day - Rubbernecker, Pail & sentiment - Tiny Treats Valentines/Papertrey Ink
Paper: White - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Distress Fired Brick
Accessories: foam dimensionals, paper shred, pail - Target, heart punch - EK Success, circle and lacey circle nestabilities, green & red copic.

My talented stamping friend, Anya, had these cones on her blog with a link to the template. I knew as soon as I saw them I wanted to make some! I put 5 kisses in each one along with some basket shred. I just used patterned paper for the cones (instead of stamping them like Anya did) since I was mass producing!
Stamps: Rubbernecker
Paper: Scarlet Jewell, White - PTI, DP's My Mind's Eye/Irresistable, K & Co/Smitten
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Modern label punch - SU, Shiny stems - Michaels, cone template - http://www.afieldjournal.blogspot.com. , hole punch, heart punch - EK Success

I got this idea from fellow WMS DT member Joan - I decorated it all a little differently but got the bag idea from her. Of course, I just happened to have some of these bags in my stash!?! The little brown bag is open at the top so these message hearts come out and you could also slip in a gift card! I love, love, love this stitching stamp from WMS!!!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Sweet Hearts, Off Beat Backgrounds (stitching)
Paper: Pure Poppy, White, Berry Sorbet - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black & Lady Bug
Accessories: minibags - Michaels, heart punch - EK Success, twine - PTI

I got these pretty scalloped heart dishes last year at Michaels after season (2 for $1!). I had some paper doilies that I adhered to the inside of the dish. I filled a baggie with cherry jelly hearts, tied it with wrinkled seam tape and then trimmed off the top of the bag. I made a tag with a Spellbinders die, stamped it and added foam hearts and a ribbon to the top. Then I just slipped the bag and tag into the dish! So it's a card and gift all in one!
So there you go! hope they inspire! I suddenly feel like eating some candy for some reason !!! LOL!!!
Hope to see you tomorrow for the WMS Saturday Sketch!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Sweet Hearts
Paper: White - PTI, Riding hood red - SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

I sponged all the edges, added the foam flowers and called it DONE!

January Friends of WMS Blog Waltz

Welcome to the Friends of Waltzingmouse Blog Waltz - it all starts in the playroom of the WMS forum - you can find all the details here. We hope you'll come join us! This month the theme is Love/Valentines!

Even though my card is pretty clean and simple - I did manage to use three WMS stamp sets on it! Text It, Frame It, and Sweet Hearts.

I just love the traditional Valentine colors of red, white and black don't you?! It reminds me of making Valentines when I was little - working on the diningroom table, covered with newspapers, with red, white and black construction paper, white paper doilies, some dime store stickers and that globby paste!! LOL!! I can taste it now!!

I also love making this size card - 5 1/2" x 3" - long and narrow but still fits in a standard A2 envelope!

As usual - there's a contest going on during the waltz - there could be hidden clue(s) on my picture (do you seE them?!)- count them up and enter the total found on all the DT's cards over in the playroom. A random correct guess will win a WMS stamp set!

I'm off to check out everyone's cards!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Text It, Frame It, Sweet Hearts
Paper: White - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Distress - Fired Brick

Saturday Waltzingmouse Sketch - I Just Love You!

We're BAAAAACCCCKKKKK!!! Now that the holiday's are over and we've all had a chance to rest and regroup - we've got a Saturday Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge for you!

I can't believe I didn't make a purse or a container for this sketch - for some reason I went with a less literal interpretation this week!

I cut my Nestability heart out of felt, added a big black button from my button box with a yellow ribbon tied through the buttonholes and stamped hearts all over!

All the stamps are from Sweet Hearts.

Check out the WMS Sketch Blog and get inspired by the cards the Mischief Makers and other DT members have created using this week's sketch.

Then make your own card using the sketch and link it on the Sketch Blog by Thursday 1/13/11 at 11:59 pm EST - you could be chosen Top Mouse !! Winners are announced each Saturday along with the new sketch challenge.

ETA: just found out - this week one lucky entry will win a WMS stamp set of their choice!!!

I changed the stamps, colors, placement of the heart, and used ribbon instead of buttons but you can see her nice design and general theme on my card.

The sugar heart and hugs and kisses sentiment are from Rubbernecker Stamps I love the font on this sentiment - don't you?!

Julia

A Golden Tree of Love

This week Nichole (butterfly ears) was the featured stamper over on Split Coast. I cased her pretty fruity Friday topiary card .

I knew this roses topiary from Rubbernecker Stamps would be perfect as a substitute for her fruit tree. I embossed both the topiary and the hearts background with gold EP. I colored the image with Copics. I used the Top Note die to cut the hearts background. Several of the layers are up on foam dimensionals.

Doesn't the gold card stock set it all off nicely?

Under Fun News: Cindy Motherway (AKA Mothermark and da Mudder of teapot Tuesday fame on SCS) is joining us on the Rubbernecker Design team- Whoo Hoo!! h0w fun is that! Welcome to the team GF!

Two More Valentine Crafts

I have two final Valentine Crafts to share with you today that I'll be selling at my church. Both of them are completely copied from other people! (why re-invent the wheel right?!?) and I have linked to where I found them both.

First are these adorable little glassine bags that I found on fellow Waltzingmouse DT member Jennifer's blog. The stamps are from the Sweet Hearts set. The glassine bags are from PTI.

I found these cute Valentine Bookmarks on Mish's blog. I used My Mind's Eye/Irresistable and Basic Grey/Two Scoops for my designer papers. I used 5 designs of DP (four 1"x 8" strips of each) and a 12" piece of twine (Stampin Up) for each one. See Mish's blog for how to lay them out and cut them.
The cute stamps are from PTI - Take Note and Tiny Treats Valentines. I used just 3 copics to color all the images - R59, RV32, BG10. Cute and simple and so pretty! My kind of craft!
And here's some fun news!
Claire is revealing 4 new stamp sets at Waltzingmouse on Thursday 2/4! Each day starting Sunday two of the design team members will be having sneak peaks on their blogs and Claire will be having them everyday!
On Sunday - check out Belinda and Laurie.
I'll be having my sneak peeks on Monday along with Anya.
See you then!
thanks for stopping by!!

Thank You...... no ..... Thank Ewe! And some Valentine Crafts!

What a fun Limited Supplies challenge today over on Split Coast - to use a sentiment that is a Palindrome - the same spelling frontwards and backwards! My palindrome today is EWE - Thank 'ewe' to be specific! And my dotted patterned paper, as required, is the same on both sides should you fold it in half! Even my frame stamp from Waltzingmouse fits the bill - the same on both sides!
My 'ewe', from Rubber Soul, is cut out and popped up on foam dimensionals - qualifying this for yesterdays Ways to Use it challenge - cut it out!
A fun challenge today - it really made you think!! - and I learned a new word !!! LOL!!!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Vintage Labels No 1, Rubber Soul - A Day at the Zoo
Paper: Green & white bazzill, DP - Pretty Pastels - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: foam dimensionals, labels one nestability, cuttlebug, saddle stitched Spring moss ribbon - PTi
And here are some Valentine Crafts that I made to sell at my church in a few weeks.
My sister gave me these cute heart shaped silver baskets -they were left over from a wedding shower that she had for my niece (I think she got them for $1 each at Christmas Tree?). I also had these pretty puffy hearts from a friend who was cleaning out her supplies and no longer wanted them!
So - I just stamped Be Mine on white card stock - punched it with a heart punch and attached it to the heart which I then hung off the handle of the basket. I attached a gingham bow over the knot so it looked pretty and filled the basket with white basket shred and yummy Hershey Kisses! - oh, and I also added a sticky gem to each heart!
You may have seen these boxes on this post of mine - this time I put a cute little seed pot inside (the box is called a flower pot box after all!) The seeded pots were 2 for $1 at Target!
I made a few of the boxes in pink card stock and put these pretty lucite votive candle holders inside them - again - 2 for $1 at Target!
And finally - I'm sure you all made these for Halloween treats over the past two years when this pattern was floating around everywhere?! Well - I had some of the test tubes (Martha Stewart at Michaels) left over and thought they'd make a cute Valentine treat this year! (Papertrey Ink has some in 3/4" size as well as some square ones)

I used this cute little Hedgehog from Penny Black and the Be Mine is from Waltzingmouse.

You can find the tutorial for these holders here - and below is a pic of how it looks cut, scored and trimmed!

You start with an 11"x4" piece of card stock. Holding the long edge at the top - score at 1/2", 1 3/4", 4 1/4", 5 1/2" and 8". Holding the short edge at the top - score each side at 1 1/4" Use a 1" circle punch for the hole. The long DP panel (shown below) is 5 1/4" x 2 3/8" the shorter piece (attached on the flip side on the section above the circle) is 1 3/8" x 2 3/8"

So that's it for me today! I've been on vacation this week - stamping up a storm as you can see! The week has just flown by but I did get a lot done!

Thanks so much for checking in with me today!

You Have a Big Heart, Valentine!

My good stamping buddy Anne (jdmommy) is the featured stamper today! She LOVES red so I knew I had to CASE something using that color. I chose her CAS Red Hearts.

I've been wanting to use this gorgeous victorian style heart stamp from Rubbernecker and today was the day! First I stamped the heart on white cardstock - then I stamped it on two differenet designer papers, cut out the ribbon from one and the heart from the other and paper pieced them onto the white stamping. I popped up the ribbon on foam dimensionals, added layered flowers and a heart brad. The bottom edge is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. To finish it off - I sponged the edges with Tea Dye Distress Ink by Tim Holtz just to soften it a little

I was on my way to bed Friday night and snuck into Split Coast to check the inspiration challenge - and of course just had to make a card once I got inspired!

I chose this Primitive Love Plaque from the on line store, Nell Hills, because I knew this stamp from Rubbernecker Stamps was perfect to represent the image!

I embossed the image with gold embossing powder on gold card stock. I dry embossed the white card with my square nestability and then adhered the gold piece inside the frame.

All you need is love - do da do da do...... sing along with me now!!!

Have a great weekend everyone - it's a 3 day one for me as we celebrate Martin Luther King Day. Thanks so much for coming by!

Houses on the Fence Posts

The Clean and Simple challenge on Split Coast this week was to use cut outs on your card.

I stamped these cute birdhouses in three different colors, cut them out and layered them onto the posts of this barbed fence.

I went over the barbed wire with a clear Spica pen so it shimmers a little IRL.

I added a few punched hearts so this could be a Valentine card if I wanted it to be , colored the fence with copics and tied the gingham ribbon around the top to fill in a little bit of the white space! Pretty clean, pretty simple.

My card today is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". All my stamps are from Rubbernecker Stamps

Some Very Exciting News! and A Paper Quilt

Hi everyone! I am just over the moon with some exciting news I can finally share with you all.

I am now officially a member of the Design Team for Rubbernecker Stamps! Check out the announcement on their blog - there it is in black and white!!!

Check out my side bar to see the list of super talented ladies I am joining! And Kittie Caracciolo is the DT Coordinator - THE designer of the exclusive Kittie Kits!! If you are on Split Coast you are probably very familiar with Kittie's wonderful cards. Yikes! I'm so honored to have my name beside these people .....

I'll be posting soon using many of the wonderful stamps you can find at Rubbernecker so be sure to check back! In the meantime - be sure to check out the store - there's a great pre-inventory sale going on!!

You can also check here to see cards I've posted in the past with some Rubbernecker stamps on them. (you'll see which ones are Rubbernecker in my supplies list at the bottom of each posting.

Ok - now that I got that exciting news off my chest - here's a Valentine for you!
What a fun Technique challenge over on Split Coast - to make a paper quilt.

I layed out my 1" squares of designer papers, glued them to a square of card stock and then cut them with a heart nestability. I layered the quilted heart to a piece of cream textured Bazzill card stock cut with the scalloped heart nestability.

I stamped the stitching from the Waltzingmouse Off Beat Backgrounds set with Versamark and embossed it in clear EP. Then I tied a piece of twine around the heart and added a vintage button. I off set the heart and placed the sentiment in the right corner. Both are on foam dimensionals.

I attached a cream heart to the inside of my card so I would be able to write a salutation and decorated it with a few little hearts punched from the same designer papers I used on the "quilt". The sentiment is from the brand new Waltzingmouse set called Sweethearts. Check yesterday's post below to see more of the beautiful stamps from this set!

You can check out all the other Paper Quilt cards here. I hope you'll try this fun technique they're really simple to make!

Thanks for coming by today and sharing my happy news!

I Remember Making Valentine's

Whenever I get out the red and white paper to make Valentine cards it brings me back to my childhood.......We'd spread out all our heart stickers, doilies and red and white construction paper (remember that?) on the dining room table and go at it!

At school, I loved hanging a decorated brown paper lunch bag on the front of my school desk or along the wall at the back of the classroom where everyone would drop in little cards we brought for each other. When my sister and I got home from school we'd spread the Valentines all over a TV tray where our mum let us leave them for a week and we'd look at them over, and over, and over again! (and checking which ones were from BOYS!)

So that's where my thoughts were as I made this sweet little Valentine Box using stamps from the brand new Valentine Set called Sweet Hearts releasing later today from Waltzingmouse Stamps! Here's what the back of my box looks like.

I made 6 little 3x3 Valentine cards to tuck inside the box.

I made all the cards with the same colors and papers but used different stamps on each one. Can you believe how many great stamps are in this set??? And I still didn't use all of them!
These little cards could be tucked in lunch boxes or left on pillows or car seats. Wouldn't it be fun to be surprised by one of these little tokens of love?!

I just love the two arrow stamps with this set.
I stamped the same sentiment on the inside of each card - overstamping the red heart.
If you'd like to make one of these boxes you can find a tutorial here.

Basically - the box is a piece of card stock 5 3/8" x 8". Holding the 5 3/8" side along the top of a Scor Pal - score on left and right edges at 1". Holding the 8" side along the top of a Scor Pal - score on left and right edges at 3 1/4" Cut as shown below on the left.

The cover is a piece of card stock 4 3/8" x 2 9/16". Score at 1/2" on all 4 sides. Cut as shown below on the right.

Here's the whole package again - Of course - you could just fill the box with Hershey Kisses - Yum!!
So what are you waiting for?!?! Hurry over to Waltzingmouse and snap up this set before it's gone! She'll be releasing it at 7 pm her time (Ireland)
AND - check out Claire's blog for more gorgeous samples using it! She has another new set called Faux Fun that you need to check out too!

What are your childhood Valentine memories??

Be Mine

Today I was inspired by this lovely pink glass tile bracelet to create this pretty little pink Valentine.

Our inspiration on Split Coast for this challenge was the Design Spirit Studio web site.

I embossed the heart with black EP and adhered it to a scalloped nestability. Then I layered some flowers and held them together with a Basic Grey glazed brad. I scored the edges to look like the beveled edges on the glass tile.

My heart is from the Seasons of Love set by Waltzingmouse, the sentiment is from a new Valentine set that will be available on January 4th.

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Seasons of Love, sentiment from Valentine set to be released 1/4/10
Paper: white - PTI, Pink Pirouette - SU
Ink: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Heart Nestabilities, black EP, hot gun, basic grey glazed brad, flowers - Taylored Expressions & Michaels, scor pal, foam dimensionals, glue dots

I made this CAS card for the Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS - to make a quick card using a new supply and celebrating a yearly event.

I bought myself this new Flourished Frame Cuttlebug folder just before Christmas and this challenge was the perfect opportunity to open it up!

My stamp set is also new - a sneak peek at the Valentine/Anniversary set being released on Jan 4th from Waltzingmouse Stamps (yes - the very same set that the sentiment on the pink Valentine above is from!!)

And the yearly event is an anniversary (my sentiment inside says Happy Anniversary) I created this card in under 15 minutes - just embossed, stamped inside the frame added a little bling and corner punched the corners!

You can find more great sneak peeks at the blogs of these other DT members - Anya, Belinda, Bonnie, Jennifer, and Laurie

I'm also very excited to welcome Lynn Mercurio to our team as announced by our Claire over the weekend!
