Waltzingmouse Saturday Sketch - A Cameo Anniversary!

Welcome to Saturday and another fun WMS sketch!  Belinda did the honors of creating another fun one for us!

And since I had all the new July Release stamps still out on my worktable - I naturally grabbed the lovely Cameo Sets for my card!

Pretty clean and simple on this - just like the sketch.  I just added a little bling and twine!  My top panel is a lovely textured Bazill.  The card base and silhouettes are Hibiscus Burst.  I popped the panel and circles up on foam tape.

We hope you'll be inspired and join us in the sketch challenge this week -  you will find all the details on the WMS Sketch blog.  Can't wait to see what you create!!  Every week one lucky entry wins a free WMS stamp set so get to it!!

Hope all those living in the US have a wonderful and safe 4th of July Weekend and Happy Canada Day (yesterday) to all those living to the north of US!

Sweet Peek - Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps - Love is Like a Tree!

If you're looking for my Waltzingmouse Sneak peek - please scroll down to the post below this!

Today I'm excited to be showing you a Sweet Peek at a fun new stamp set from the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps July 1 Release.   It's called  Love is Like a Tree.

I've been loving making tags lately - using simple oaktag shipping labels from Staples.  I sponged the tag with Old Paper and Victorian Velvet Ranger Distress inks.  Then I stamped the tree, the little sentiments and the heart 'leaves' on the card.  I stamped the sentiment and cut it with a Ribbon Banner Shapeability, sponging it with ink before removing it from the die.  I layered the tag to a piece of tan Bazzill card stock, punched a hole at the top and threaded wrinkled seam tape through it.

I hope you'll hop over to the Sweet 'n Sassy blog to find the links to the other Design Team members who are Sweet Peeking this pretty set today!
All of the new sets will be available for purchase on July 1!  (that's tomorrow guys!!)

Stamps:  Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps - Love is Like a Tree (to be released 7/1)
Paper:  Shipping tag - Staples, Tan Bazzill, White - PTI
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Distress Old Paper, Victorian Velvet, Vintage Photo, Dusty Concord, Brushed Corduroy.
Accessories:  Ribbon Banners Shapeabilities, wrinkled Seam Tape, cropadile.

Taylored Expressions Blog Hop - Make it Masculine!

Today I'm participating in the Taylored Expressions Blast from the Past Blog Hop - the Theme is Masculine.  You have to use TE stamps released prior to March 2011.

 And here's my card

I didn't have any specific masculine stamps to use -  so I used my cuppies to make an Anniversary card for  Kent - our anniversary is coming up in June - so now my card is made! ( you know how we card stampers never seem to have cards for our own family?!?!?)  Inside I stamped 'match made in heaven'!  Which is exactly what we have...!

What makes it masculine??  The colorful but dark colors, the minimal accessories and layers, and the twine!  Do you agree???  My sentiment is from A Year of Sweet Sentiments and my cuppies are from the Downtown Diva set

Here are all the bloggers participating in this fun hop today - let's go check out how to make it masculine - shall we??!

Stamps:  Taylored Expressions - A Year of Sentiments, Downtown Diva

Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Ransom Love

The Ways to Use It Challenge over on Split Coast this week was Ransom Style - we were to use any kind of letters in different fonts, shapes and/or sizes (like a ransom note!)

I remembered that I had a bag of chipboard letters in black and white in my 'chipboard' drawer and so I looked to see what words I might be able to make out of what I had.

I wanted to use my brandy new Bold Ornament stamp from Rubbernecker and thought LOVE might be a good word to pair with it. I just added a couple of rhinestones to the ornament to soften the bold clunky letters a bit! My card is 5" x 5" square. I think it came out kind of cool!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I always appreciate when you leave me a comment!

Saturday Waltzingmouse Sketch - Darling of my Heart

Happy Saturday my dear stamping friends! Oh - look .... here's this week's Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge! Isn't it a beauty!
For my sketch card today I used one of Claire's own Digital Designer Papers called Celtic Squares. I cut rectangles out of 5 of the colors (there are 8 colors in each design!) Don't these look pretty all lined up!
I cut my sentiment from Irish Blessings with a Spellbinders Labels Trio Die - don't you just love this phrase - "Darling of my heart" wow- it gives me goosebumps! You could give this to your spouse, to your child or to a very close lifelong friend.
The pretty heart lock is a Spellbinders Timeless Heritage die. I was going to try and find a heart button or punch a heart but then I 'found' this die in my rack (this is the first time I've used it!)
Boy, this card went together easy and I love how it came out! Isn't it great when a card works out the way you envisioned it?
On the inside I used stamps from Sweethearts.

So check out the WMS Sketch Blog and see the great sketch cards the Mischief Makers and other DT members have created this week!
Then make your own card using the sketch and link it there by Thursday 9/23/10 at 11:59 pm EST - you could be chosen Top Mouse next week!!
We're having a warm weather weekend here in New England - the last remnants of summer - but the nights are getting colder - crisp reminders that fall is on it's way!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Irish Blessings, Sweethearts.
Paper: Soft Stone, Smokey Shadow - PTI, gold CS - unknown, Digital Designer paper - Waltzingmouse/Celtic Squares.
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Distress Milled Lavender.
Accessories: Spellbinders - Timeless Heritage (heart), Labels Trio, foam dimensionals.

Waltzingmouse Sketch - Happy Anniversary

Please scroll down to my post below to see my Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge card - Friendship theme!

It's time once again for the Saturday Waltzingmouse Sketch - surprise! no circle this week!! LOL!!!

For my card - I turned the sketch on it's side and made it clean and simple with few embellishments to keep it a little bit masculine. The Love Potion label is from Rescue Remedies and the hearts are from Sweethearts.

And here's what I stamped on the inside. I drew my frames with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen that has a little glitter to it. The lines give some definition to all the white space!

So check out the WMS Sketch Blog and see the great sketch cards the Mischief Makers and other DT members have created this week!

Then make up your own card using the sketch and link it there by Thursday 9/2 at 11:59 pm EST - you could be a Top Mouse next week!!

Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge #7

Welcome to Speedy the Cats' Friends Saturday challenge! This week our challenge is to make your own designer paper using stamps.

I stamped this fun sentiment (A Fine Pear) repeatedly across my white card stock to create my DP. I first drew lines in pencil so I would stamp straight!!

Then I just added the sentiment popped up on foam dimensionals and the ribbon and charm. This card could be either a wedding or anniversary card.

The stamp set is a Mark's Finest Papers June release called Pears & Hollyhocks. The pretty gingham ribbon , gold thread and pear charm are also from Faith's store.

We'd love to have you join us in the challenges over on Marks Finest Papers Blog and to link your card there. You could win a free stamp set!

If you load your card over at Split Coast Stampers, please use Speedy's Friends in your keywords.

Stamps: Marks Finest Papers - Pears & Hollyhocks

Paper: White, spring moss - PTI

Ink: Spring Moss -PTI, Memento Tuxedo Black

Accessories: Ribbon, gold thread, pear charm - Marks Finest Papers, key tag punch, curly label punch- SU, foam dimensionals.

Be Happy Together - Forever

The CAS challenge over at Split Coast was to create a card using a greeting as your main focal point. For my card - I embossed a Labels 12 nestie frame using two sizes of the die. Then I just stamped the greeting inside the frame and added a leaf frond charm tied with a knot of gold cord.

The greeting is from the stamp set Pears and Hollyhocks by Mark's Finest Papers and will be available to purchase tomorrow (6/8)! The paper, charm and cord are also MFP. I think this card would be great for either a wedding or anniversary card don't you?
I'll be participating in the MFP DT blog hop on Wednesday using other stamps from this set so I hope you can come back to check that out!

Stamps: Marks Finest Papers - Pears & Hollyhocks (available 6/8)
Paper: textured cream - Marks Finest Papers
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: charm & gold cord - Marks Finest Papers, Labels 12 Nestabilities, cuttlebug, glue dot

The technique challenge at Split Coast was to create a card that is personal and also uses a favorite technique.

I printed this photo of my husband's parents, Marjorie and Charlie onto cream cardstock.
Marjorie just passed away a week ago at the age of 94 and Charlie passed away 7 years ago at the age of 89. As they both wished to be cremated - we will be having a joint burial next week and a little party celebrating the love they had for each other and the love they gave to their family and friends.

This is a picture of them about 20 years ago when they took a long anticipated trip to Hawaii. They are dressed in their matching Hawaiian print outfits! In recent years, Marjorie would wear Charlie's shirt in her assisted living apartment.

One of my favorite techniques is to stamp a sentiment directly on a printed photograph and that is what I did here. This lovely sympathy verse is from a set called Irish Blessings by Waltzingmouse Stamps

I'm going to make two of these and send them to my DH's sister and brother -I think they will appreciate them!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Irish Blessings
Paper: white, vintage cream - PTI, Pacific Blue - SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Martha Stewart corner punch, sticky pearls

Together Always

Wow - what exciting and beautiful cakes and table settings on the inspiration site, Amy Atlas Events, for Saturdays Split Coast Challenge! I chose this pretty Mother's Day Table setting to inspire my card.I embossed my background stamp with white EP and stamped my sentiment on a Spellbinders Fancy Tags that I sponged with spring moss before removing it from the die.I added three buttons to suggest the candies in the jars on the inspriation picture. This will go to my college roommate who's anniversary was Friday (woops!) so it will be a tad late!
Inside says Happy Anniversary overstamped with a spring moss heart.
I was a bridesmaid in their wedding and was 5 months pregnant with my son - and he will be 33 in Sept so I always remember how many years they have been married even if I forget the date!
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps: Asian Garden, Fancy Phrases, Sweethearts
Paper: white, spring moss, ripe avocado - PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, spring moss - PTI
Accessories: fancy tags - Spellbinders, vintage buttons and ribbon - PTI, white EP, hot gun, sponge, glue dots, foam dimensionals

Be Mine

Today I was inspired by this lovely pink glass tile bracelet to create this pretty little pink Valentine.

Our inspiration on Split Coast for this challenge was the Design Spirit Studio web site.

I embossed the heart with black EP and adhered it to a scalloped nestability. Then I layered some flowers and held them together with a Basic Grey glazed brad. I scored the edges to look like the beveled edges on the glass tile.

My heart is from the Seasons of Love set by Waltzingmouse, the sentiment is from a new Valentine set that will be available on January 4th.

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Seasons of Love, sentiment from Valentine set to be released 1/4/10
Paper: white - PTI, Pink Pirouette - SU
Ink: Versamark, Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Heart Nestabilities, black EP, hot gun, basic grey glazed brad, flowers - Taylored Expressions & Michaels, scor pal, foam dimensionals, glue dots

I made this CAS card for the Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS - to make a quick card using a new supply and celebrating a yearly event.

I bought myself this new Flourished Frame Cuttlebug folder just before Christmas and this challenge was the perfect opportunity to open it up!

My stamp set is also new - a sneak peek at the Valentine/Anniversary set being released on Jan 4th from Waltzingmouse Stamps (yes - the very same set that the sentiment on the pink Valentine above is from!!)

And the yearly event is an anniversary (my sentiment inside says Happy Anniversary) I created this card in under 15 minutes - just embossed, stamped inside the frame added a little bling and corner punched the corners!

You can find more great sneak peeks at the blogs of these other DT members - Anya, Belinda, Bonnie, Jennifer, and Laurie

I'm also very excited to welcome Lynn Mercurio to our team as announced by our Claire over the weekend!

Thanks for coming by today!

Happy Anniversary in a Bowl & Blog Candy!

Here is an inspiring bowl:
And here is the card I created after being inspired by it!

I was away all day today teaching a couple of classes at the Papertree in Manchester, NH (Hi Michelle - Tasha - Becky and Carole!) but I missed last weeks inspiration challenge over at Split Coast because I was at The Stamping Around Weekend in CT and I didn't want to miss another one! Stef showed us a web site called Tracy Porter for us to find our inspiration.

I used my PTI damask set that I just had to have but hadn't inked up yet (!), a nestie tag trio for the sentiment and an SU ribbon slide (another thing I don't often use for some reason!) The fleur de lis's were punched with an EK Success punch.

And now - as promised - Here is some fun blog candy to celebrate my reaching 100,000 hits on my blog! Whoo Hoo!! With a big thank you to everyone who has stopped by my blog - those who come everyday - or once in a while or by random chance!!! I really appreciate it and hope that it means you find inspiration from my postings.

So here's what one lucky commenter will receive:
1. The Papertrey Ink Everyday Classics Limited Edition 2008 Set which I received for purchasing so many PTI sets last year! I got two sets so I'm sharing one with you! ( you cannot purchase this set - you have to have earned it.)
2. Thomas Kinkade Hometown PrideVignette Stamp by Cornish Heritage Farms.
3. Foxy and Birdie Snag'em Stamps by Imaginisce.
4. An Ornare corner piercing stencil.
All you need to do is leave a comment on this post by 6 pm EST Wednesday 7/22/09. I will randomly choose a comment number and post the winner on Thursday. If the winner doesn't contact me within 24 hours I will pick another number.
So good luck! and thank you again for checking out my blog - and especially for leaving me comments so I can visit you also!!

Strong Love

Here is my card for today's sketch challenge on Split Coast. I'm afraid I cut this happy couple in half to accomodate the sketch! That's really using my artistic license isn't it!! "Sorry Officer - I had to do it for the sketch today........ - I have my artistic license right here in the glove box....."I tied the ribbon in the middle to kind of take your mind off the fact that they were cut in half and ALSO shifted to the right!! I colored my image with Koh-I-Noor color pencils and gamsol and added pearls to her little neck (to make up for cutting her in half perhaps!) The image and sentiment panels are up on foam dimensionals. The stamp set is Our Love from H&M Stamps

I just checked Heather's site and it looks like Our Love is no longer listed - so it must be all sold out - if you haven't gone over there already and want to get some great deals on stamps check it out before midnight tonight because that's when her blowout sale is over. She still has a lot of cute sets left so check it out!

Thanks so much for coming by today - be sure to add a comment on this blog entry to have a chance at winning a Percy stamp from H&M I'll post the winner Thursday night!

Stamps: Our Love: H&M Stamps
Paper: vintage cream, white: PTI, Bazzill blue and brown, DP: Rusty Pickle Chocolate Bunnies
Ink: onyx black versafine
Accessories: gingham ribbon: PTI, Koh-I-Noor colored pencils, gamsol, crystal sticker pearls, foam dimensionals, oval punch

The Silver Girls

This is my card for the limited supplies challenge on Split Coast - to have your card open in a different way - I used the gate fold style where you score the sides so they fold in and meet in the middle. Then I cut a Nestability scalloped rectangle to attach to the left panel

You can see Beate's tutorial for a gatefold card here. I attached a ribbon under the front panel, around the back to the other side so my card can tie shut. Basically the card is 4 1/4" x 8 1/2" and you score it at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" holding it the long way. Here you can see the ribbon going under the image and around the back.

A friend at work asked me to make an anniversary card for her to give to her boss - they have been working together for 25 years! So it's their Silver !! LOL!!and she wanted it to be humorous.

So on the front you see these 2 young ladies talking about starting out together.

And on the inside you see these two 'older' ladies talking about how nothing has changed over all that time!!

Here you can see how the front panel overlaps the left side and where the ribbon comes out.

I hope that my friend likes it and her boss isn't offended!! They really both look a lot like the girls on the front of the card (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)

Stamps: Outside: Robyn & Meg: Me & my Big Ideas, computer generated sentiments, inside: Hitting the Town - Inky Antics
Paper: vintage cream PTI, DP: REminisce - wedded bliss - soft sage, silver: unknown
Ink: Onyx Black versafine
Accessories: Copic markers, dimensionals, rectangle nestabilities, cuttlebug, sheer dotted ribbon: Michaels

Coming Home to the Tree

Happy Friday!! I'm a day late and a dollar shy with this card tonight......

I made this card for Kristin Werner's Color Inspiration challenge this week - but when I went to load it tonight - I realized the deadline was yesterday - so I missed it!! So here is my card using the colors of real red, so saffon, pumpkin pie, old olive and tempting turquoise! (with some Taken with Teal card stock since I didn't have Tempting Turquoise).

I used this fun new stamp from a Swedish company called Scrapmagasinet and the stamp is called Tretoppen. I purchased it from a woman in Canada who runs a stamp/craft shop up there. She also sells the cute Tilda stamps from Magnolia. I found her name on someone's blog as a person who sold the Magnolia stamps so I contacted her since I was not having any luck finding where I could buy some!

I stamped 'Happy Anniversary' inside the card. The outside sentiment (which I love!) is part of a stamp by Penny Black - it has a house above it on the stamp but I only inked the sentiment part for this card. I used my Floral Fantasy cuttlebug folder for the background. I sponged the edges as well as the cuttled panel with so saffron ink to tone down the white a bit.

We're having rain tonight and supposedly on and off throughout the weekend - so it will be a good time to be in my stamping room - not feeling guilty that I'm not out in the sunshine!!

Thanks so much for coming over to see me for a bit - check back over the weekend - I'm sure I'll be doing the Inspiration and Featured Stamper challenges on Splitcoast.

Today's quote from Poor Richard's Almanack by Ben Franklin: "He who multiplies Riches multiplies Cares."

Stamps: Treehouse: Scrapmagasinet
Paper: White: PTI, taken with teal, real red - SU, green bazzill
Ink: onyx black Versafine, So Saffron
Accessories: cuttlebug, Floral fantasy folder, dimensionals, glue zots, sponge, SU markers, Prismacolor marker: sky blue light
Techniques: Cuttlebug

What a Pear - Flap Fold Anniversary Card

Well - I went to Jury Duty this morning and I'm happy to say they didn't need any jurors today so we were dismissed a little after 12 noon. The only trial up today chose to let the judge decide the case. Phew!! I believe in doing my civic duty and certainly would have served if empanelled - but I'm just as happy that they didn't need me!

So of course I went shopping at AC Moore and got some nice pieces of designer paper - one of which I used on this card today - it's by K & Company - Amy Butler.

What a great Try a New Technique challenge they had on SCS today - a Flap Fold card - I have been wanting to try one of these. Guest hostess JoLynn found this tutorial by Rose Ann Reynolds on the Scor-pal site.

I made mine an anniversary card - I used my Coluzzle circle and knife to cut the curved top edge and the flap is kept closed with a Magnetic snap Closure by Basic Grey that I purchased on line at Eclectic Paperie. I stamped the pear twice with embossing clear ink and covered it with Denim Embossing Powder from Adirondack. I colored them with my Prismacolor markers. Then I cut one with a nestability circle and cut out the other. I had to stamp an extra leaf to have one going to the left. I put one pear up on dimensionals as well as the sentiment. I sponged the edges of the flap, the circles and the sentiment with Buckaroo Blue ink.
On the inside pictures you can see where I put one piece of the magnetic closure on the top flap - I attached it with a glue dot - the other piece is underneath the verse panel. You add the panel to cover the magnet. You also can see that I stamped the pear over the verse to add a little interest. I used my Soft Sand Shadow ink by Memories so you could still read the words.

I'm also submitting this card to the Caardvarks Homegrown challenge - to use fruit or vegetables on your card. See that challenge here.

Well - I'm off to cook supper for my starving husband who just finished up painting our bedroom walls and ceiling - he really is a handy-man! I love the smell of fresh paint and it's fun to have a room done over - almost like you are in a new house! Now I have to decorate to go with the new color (Marlboro Blue).

I also have to design a card my sister wants for her brother-in law who is retiring - he loves race car driving and is moving to Arizona so I have to incorporate those two things into the card! Fun Challenge!

Thanks for dropping in today - keep your eyes peeled for my retirement card - it may get posted tonight or maybe not until tomorrow! I still have to do my taxes too! (can you tell I'm avoiding that!!??)

Faux Cloisonne, My Caardvark Winnings and Some News!

We learned the most fun technique on Split Coast today - Faux Cloisonne. It's really very simple and looks so wonderful! We had to pick out a glossy picture from any magazine -
I used a picture from a Martha Stewart of framed pictures on a wall in white, yellow and grays.

Then I stamped the flowers and leaves on the page with my clear embossing pad, poured gold embossing powder over it - tapped it off and heated it with my hot gun. Then I just cut out the flowers and leaves. Voila! Faux Cloisonne! I did use the suggested Paper Glaze over them but I don't know if it really made much difference - might have given it a little more sheen and added some sturdiness to the paper. Some of the flowers and the sentiment are up on dimensionals. I sponged the edges of the card with Close to Cocoa.

I just received the green designer paper (K&CO) as part of my prize package that I won for a friendship card challenge over at Caardvarks that I showed you on a few entries down on my blog here.

Look at all the great things I got for my winnings!
There were even more pieces of designer paper - I couldn't fit it all in and the flowers are just terrific - there are huge brown ones and felt purple ones - and even a little set of metal silverware! There's a stamp set from Queen Kat Designs. So go over and check out the Caardvark challenges. You could win too!
Ok - now for my exciting news I mentioned last night. I've been invited to teach some card stamping and paper crafts workshops at a great little antique/gift shop called the Cooperage in Townsend, MA near where my sister lives! I went over there to see if they would be interested in selling some of my cards and they ended up buying some cards and asking me if I'd be interested in teaching some workshops! So I'm going to do four in April and we'll see how they go and maybe I'll do more. So I'm actually going to make a little money from my very expensive hobby!! So if you live anywhere near Townsend - leave me a comment - maybe you can come by and take my class!!
Thanks for coming by again - I so appreciate your looking at my 'stuff' and sharing my news!
