Waltzingmouse Sketch #13 - Fall Blessings

Happy Saturday my friends! - and welcome to another Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge. Look how fun this week's sketch is! Claire designs the most interesting sketches for us doesn't she?
Even though it's been in the 90's here in New England this week -I'm in the mood for the crispness of fall!

I inked up one of last year's Waltzingmouse fall sets called Peace and Plenty for my card today. I did some stitching and sponging, added lace and a label with a little bling and added one lone falling leaf in the corner!
So check out the WMS Sketch Blog and see the great sketch cards the Mischief Makers and other DT members have created this week!

Then make up your own card using the sketch and link it there by Thursday 9/9 at 11:59 pm EST - you could be a Top Mouse next week!!
Happy weekend everyone! I'm on vacation next week and plan to spend a lot of time stamping in my craft room.

Hugs for Lindsay

What a fun combination of Cards for a Cause Challenges over on Split Coast - For this weeks Teaparty Challenge we have to show up Aquilta the Hun with our quilting prowess and for the color challenge we need to use green, blue and raspberry.

AND this month we are sending our cards (if they are pretty enough!) to Lindsay, a young mother-to-be who has been diagnosed with cancer and needs our prayers and encouragement. Some great reason to make a card huh?!

I made my plaid pattern paper using one of the stamps from Off Beat Backgrounds and the hearts and sentiment are from Sewing Box Hugs both by Waltzingmouse Stamps. The sentiment frame is Spellbinders Fancy tags but I cut the fleur de lis ends off as they were too fancy for this homespun quilt card!

I sewed around the circle twice and sponged all the edges with So Saffron Ink. The heart stamps already have the stitches on them so that part was easy peasy!!

And I tucked in another challenge here - the Tuesday Trigger over at Moxie Fab World! whooo hoo!!! This was the picture to inspire us.
Thanks Cindy for inspiring us to be conscientious card makers!

Faith Is...... a Waltzingmouse Sneak Peek!

I'm so excited about Claire's 4 new Waltzingmouse sets coming out this Thursday that I had to make 2 sneak peeks for you today!

I've used stamps from 2 of the new sets as well as some images from older sets so I'll identify where they come from as we go along!Don't you just LOVE the detail on this beautiful basket? I colored it with 3 different shades of brown copics so you could see the intricate design on it! This new set called Spring Baskets comes with several different 'things' you can put in your basket - I used the eggs today (which I paper pieced) since it went along with the sentiment I chose - 'Faith is putting all your eggs in God's basket' - isn't that a wonderful thought?!

The lovely Celtic Cross is from an older set called Celtic Heritage. I stamped it in brown and then colored the pattern in with a lighter brown Copic. I stitched around the edges of my card with my Janome sewing machine. I used Taylor's sketch for my design.

On the inside of my card I used a wonderful circle stamp from one of the new sets called Vintage Circles Small. The sentiment is from the new Spring Baskets set. I made the lacey panel using a Martha Stewart punch I just got.

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Cross/Celtic Heritage, Basket & Eggs & Sentiments/Spring Baskets, Circle frame/Vintage Circles Small
Paper: white, Spring Moss, Plum Pudding, DP/Bity Baby Blessings, Pretty Pastels -all PTI
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Dark Chocolate & Spring Moss - PTI
Accessories: Copics, E33, E35, E37, G20, Janome Sewing machine, martha stewart punch, square and Circle nestabilities, dew drops, glue dots, foam dimensionals
For my second card I took one of the egg stamps from Spring Baskets and used it as a balloon instead! As soon as I saw it I thought the lines on it looked very similar to a hot air balloon - and that made me think Birthday Card! LOL! (yes, weird brain - I know!)
This Basic Grey designer paper (Cupcake) is so fun for party cards! I paper pieced the 'balloons' popping them up on foam dimensionals and outlined the strings and balloons with a very light blue copic (BG10) The sentiment is from an older set Celtic Heritage. I think this makes a great masculine card, don't you?!? Fun but not too accessorized!!!
On the inside of this card - I adhered a 1" panel of designer paper to the top and bottom - stamping this verse from the older set Irish Blessings in the middle - leaving some room beneath for my salutation!
I hope you have enjoyed my sneak peeks and that they have inspired you!
Starting yesterday (did you miss it?!?) two DT members are showing sneak peeks every day until the reveal on Thursday -check my side bar for links to the DT's blogs!
The new sets will be revealed on Thursday 2/4 over at Waltzingmouse and that same day we will be having a blog hop with PRIZES to be won!! So be sure to check back!
Anya is also doing a sneak peek today so please hop over to see what she has to inspire us! And be sure to check Claire's blog too - she'll be showing new creations every day until the reveal on Thursday afternoon!
Stamps: balloons/Spring Baskets, Happy Birthday sentiment/Celtic Heritage, inside: verse Irish Blessings
Paper: White-PTI, black - SU, DP Basic Grey/Cup cake
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black

Inspired by Curiosity

Stef showed us the webstore Curiosity Shoppe for The Inspiration Challenge on Split Coast this week. I was so inspired that I made three cards! My first inspiration was this pretty apron with the tan silhouettes of mushrooms. I really liked the colors on this. And here is the card I made.
I stamped the mushrooms with bleach instead of ink (moisten a paper towel on a plastic dish with bleach to use as an inkpad - be sure to wash off your stamp immediately after stamping) I stitched around the distressed edges and added a ribbon. This fun sentiment is from Rosie's Road Show - a new stamp company to me - they are very similar to the Amuse style of stamp.

Stamps: Cornish Heritage Farms: Forest Friendzy, Sentiment: Rosie's Roadshow
Paper: Ripe Avocado: PTI, Blue Bayou: SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ripe Avodado: PTI
Accessories: Bleach, Janome Sewing Machine, Distresser: Heidi Swapp

My second inspiration came from this clean and simple journal cover. This is the no layer card I created
I stamped the scrolly foliage and sentiment (both by Papertree Ink) directly on the card. Clean and Simple!

Stamps: With Sympathy, Fresh Alphabet: PTI
Paper: White: PTI
Ink: Wild Wasabi: SU, Memento Tuxedo Black

And my third inspiration was this cute little wallet with the shamrocks.I made this card with Waltzingmouse Stamp sets Irish Blessings (the sentiment), Celtic Heritage (the shamrocks) and Half Baked (the heart)

I used the script cuttlebug folder on the brown panel and the canvas background stamp by Stampin Up on the base card to mimic the canvas material of the wallet. I used a heart instead of a ladybug.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!! We're off today to take my son's fiance, April, out to dinner for her birthday!

Stamps: Irish Blessings, Celtic Heritage, Half Baked: Waltzingmouse Stamps, Canvas BG: SU
Paper: Naturals Ivory, Chocolate Chip: SU
Ink: Handsome Hunter, So Saffron: SU, Memento Tuxedo Black, Pure Poppy: PTI
Accessories: dark chocolate twill: PTI, circle punch, distresser: Heidi Swapp, Cuttlebug Script folder, sponge, foam dimensionals

More or Less Quilt

I'm BACK!!! and I'm so happy to get back to stamping!!! We had a great time in Vermont snowshoeing and visiting with Kent's brother and sister-in-law. I'll have some pictures to share with you tomorrow so be sure to check back!

I made these two cards for today's inspiration challenge on Split Coast which was the Pottery Barn Teen catalogue web site. I was inspired by this quilt:I made two cards - one minimal and one stepped up for the January Fan Club More is More challenge. (One of these cards is not like the other - one of these cards is not the same... that song just popped into my head and now it won't pop out!!!)On one card I sewed up and down the panels with my sewing machine to give the card the quilted look, I popped up the center square as well as the sentiment, sponged the outside edges of the card with So Saffron ink and attached two dew drops on either side of the stamped square.
On the less card - I did not do the sewing, only popped up the sentiment and did not sponge on color or add dew drops.

The pretty heart quilt stamp and square quilted framing is from a set called Quilter Sampler Additions by Papertrey Ink and the Happy Valentine's Day sentiment is from the H&M Stamp set called My Favorite Valentines which is back in stock and at a great low price so be sure to check it out!!
Heather let us know that all the following sets are now back in stock over at H&M Stamps:

An Inspired Martini !

Sounds good to me! (an appletini that is!) This weeks inspiration challenge over at Split Coast was pretty designer umbrellas - I chose this one: I knew I'd use this great designer paper from Papertrey for it and I also used the Floral Fantasy and Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folders. I used the Swiss Dots folder right over the DP.The martini and sentiment are from a new set from Artful Inkables called Olive You. I have started sewing a lot on my cards lately and since I have my machine out - I sewed the edges here. This is a large 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 card! This design is from Fridays Sketchers challenge blog.

I colored the martini image with my Copics markers and outlined it with a grey Prismacolor marker.

I cut my sentiment with a rectangle Nestability and added a couple of gem stones for sparkle!

Just a reminder that Kristin at Arful Inkables is offering free shipping through August (just a few more days!) on orders over $35.00 and she also has some cute new charms (dragon, fairy, frog, motor cycle, mushroom and wedding couple) and acrylic blocks on her site. So if you've been thinking of getting something now's the time to hop over there!!

Thanks so much for stopping by today - leave a comment so I can come visit your blog too!

Let it rip! and a White Dog

It was difficult for me to make this Ways To Use it challenge card - we were to tear something - and that's not my usual style.
I stamped my Rustic Branches from PapertreyInk on a white panel - cut a circle out of an Aqua Mist panel with my nestability, then I embossed with with a Cuttlebug folder - distressed and tore the edges, sponged them - layered it over the white panel and sewed the edges. Phew! I added a piece of vintage lace under the sentiment. The lace is from a box that my dear MIL gave me when she moved out of her house into assisted living so I'm happy to be using it!

Then I layered 2 primas in the corner with a piece of ribbon and a brad. The base card is Kraft card stock. This is a 4.25" x 4.25" card. I'm starting to get a little more comfortable with this shabby chic style!

Stamps: Rustic Branches - Papertrey Ink
Paper: Kraft - SU, White, Aqua Mist - PTI
Ink: Dark Chocolate and Aqua Mist - PTI, River Rock - SU, Onyx Black versafine
Accessories: sponge, lace, brown brad, foam dimensioinals, glue dots, prima flowers, sewing machine, leafy branch folder, cuttlebug, circle nestability, oval punches, dark choc twill ribbon - PTI, distresser - Heidi Swapp

Here is my card for Kelly's (Schirmcat) VSN challenge (Virtual Stamping Night) over on Split Coast. The challenge is described below:
" for this challenge the book we will be focusing on is "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See?". This book was written by Bill Martin Jr, and illustrated by Eric Carle.

The story goes something like this..."Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?""I see a red bird looking at me.""Red bird, red bird, what do you see?""I see a yellow duck looking at me."It ends with a teacher seeing children who are all dressed up like the animals listed in the story.

So for my challenge...you need to make a card featuring one of the animals and it's color, as written in the story. Choose one of the following animals, then make your card as colorful, and brilliant as can be! Be creative, and use any stamps, templates, cut-outs, or art materials that you want!

Here is the list: Brown Bear Red Bird Yellow Duck Blue Horse Green Frog Gold fish Purple Cat White Dog Black Sheep "

I chose White Dog - using this cute puppy stamp from Artful Inkables fun new set called Top Dog . I stamped his cute little head on a scrap - cut it out and layered it over the main image. Then I outlined the whole image with a Grey Prismacolor marker to make it pop a little. Doesn't it look like he's really missing you!?!?!

I stamped the sentiment in black then sketched over it with the same gray marker - punched it with my circle punch - layered it to a black circle and added the brads and ribbon piece. It's attached to the card with foam dimensionals.

Kristin is offering free shipping for orders over $35.00 for the month of August and she has some fun new charms and acrylic blocks now on her site. So hop on over and check it out! might as well save some money right!?!?!?

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll look for you tomorrow - same place!!!
