Waltzingmouse Saturday Sketch - Get Well Soon with the Balm of Friendship!

It's Saturday and time, once again, for the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!!   This week, Mischief Maker, Kelly designed our fun sketch!  Isn't this cool?!!
and here's my tag card:
I used Teeny Trees to create my little framed scene - I used the oval shaped tree to make my rolling hills!  I stamped the background panel with the negative dots and one of the gingham stamps from Gingham + Co.  The circles along the bottom are from Rescue Remedies.

Here's the tag removed from the envelope - The label and circles are from Rescue Remedies and the little bird and leaf are from Teeny Trees.   I'm thinking this would be used as a bookmark by the receiver of this get well card -  and a book would be the perfect gift to go along with this card!

I hope you'll join us in making a card for the WMS sketch challenge this week!  You can check out all the details over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog.

Please stop by again on Monday - the WMS Design Team will be having the August SOAP - Stamp of Approval Parade - that will run August 1 - August 4  - where we will all be inspiring you with projects created using the WMS July release stamps!

Waltzingmouse Saturday Sketch - Get Well Wishes

Hi guys!  I'm SO excited today -   I designed the Waltzingmouse Sketch for this week!!! whoo hoo!!

And here it is!

And here's my card based on the sketch:
Today my card is all about the papers and colors - using just one simple sentiment stamp from Fancy Phrases.  My card was even simpler than this at first - I decided to add the ribbon at the last minute - it looked pretty without it - but it does add some nice dimension to the card and also gives a good balance to the rhinestones in the top right corner.

I hope you'll join in on the WMS Sketch challenge this week - and I hope you are inspired by my sketch!!!

Check out the WMS Sketch challenge Blog for all the details -  every week there's a Waltzingmouse stamp set up for grabs!

Happy weekend everyone!

Stamps:  Waltzingmouse -  Francy Phrases
Paper:  Vintage Cream - PTI, dark and light blue - Coredinations, DP Websters Pages - Petite Papers/collection triple pack.
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
Accessories:  Rhinestones - Kaiser Kraft, wrinkled seam tape -  Prairie Bird Boutique etsy Shop.

Day 2 - Waltzingmouse SoAP

Welcome to the 2nd Day of the Waltzingmouse Stamp of Approval Parade (SoAP)!  Thanks for all your kind comments left yesterday - weren't all the DT's projects inspirational??!!!  I know I got a lot of great ideas for using the May release sets!

Today I'm parading  Gingham + Co with a little bit of Say It Loud slipped in!

First I stamped two sentiments from Say It Loud in two colors of ink - then I stamped 2 different gingham background stamps and the reverse dots background stamp from Gingham + Co. on white card stock and punched them with the butterfly punch.  I adhered the butterflies to the card with glue dots.

A cheerful little card that took just minutes to make! And the cool thing is - when you stamp one of these background stamps - it's big enough to be able to punch 3 or 4 butterflies out of the stamped panel - so you can make multiple cards at one time!  whoo hoo!!

My second card again uses both of these wonderful stamp sets.

I stamped a gingham background directly on the card, then stamped the sentiment over it in black ink.  I stamped the reverse dots background in two different colors and die but my flowers (Tim Holtz Alterations Tattered Florals).  The leaf is from Big Blooms - Chrysanthemums.  I layered the flower with foam dots, curling the petals a bit for dimension.  I adhered the ribbon with Scor Tape and just cut it off at the edge of the card (I hate wrapping ribbon around a no layer card!)

Please continue viewing the parade on each of the Design Team blogs listed here -  and I hope you'll stop by again tomorrow for Day 3!

Inspired to Be a Clown!

A fun website, Cox + Cox, from Stephanie today for the Inspiration Challenge over on Split Coast.

I was inspired by these colorful paperchains and balloons to use some circus themed chipboard pieces I recently purchased to create my fun clown card.

I cut my background patterened paper with an inverted scallop square nestability then just attached the fun chipboard pieces!

An easy peasy CAS card!   This would work great for a birthday card or a 'cheer up' card don't you think?

I have had a terrible cold for two weeks now (settled in my chest with a hacking cough!) and haven't been able to stamp as much as I wanted to -  so I didn't get to the Waltzingmouse Saturday Sketch -  but I hope you'll check it out and maybe make a card using it this week!

Also wanted to let you know I'll be previewing some fun new stamps from Rubbernecker on Sunday and a DT blog hop on Tuesday for the new release -  so hope you'll stop by again for that!

It's supposed to be 60 today in MA (whoo hoo!!)  so I hope to get out and breathe some fresh air today and maybe clean up the garden a little while I'm at it!

Stamps: none
Paper: white - PTI, DP - October Afternoon/Modern Homemaker 6 x 6 pad

Inspired by Metal

I've really been enjoying the Shabby Tea Room challenges that I recently discovered. This week the inspiration photo was this lovely bracelet and the challenge is to use metal on your inspired card or project.

Here's my inspired card.

I used alcohol inks to make my colorful swirl on glossy card stock - and I have to tell you the top and bottom color is really a cranberry NOT purple so it looks more like the bracelet gems IRL! For some reason alcohol inks do not photograph true! Then I stamped my Asian lanterns from Waltzingmouse Stamps with silver pigment ink and added the silver brads. Then I adhered the image panel to a black panel over a silver panel.
This card is also for the Teapot Tuesday challenge over on Split Coast which you will find here.

After having a wonderful sunny hot summer here in New England so far - we are suddenly having a week of rain! I'm glad I didn't take this week as vacation. Our gardens and lawns did really need the drink though!

Thanks so much for coming by today - what does this bracelet inspire you to create??
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Asian Gardens, Asian Gardens Additions
Paper: Glossy white CS , Basic Black - SU, Silver - unknown
Ink: Adirondack Alcohol Ink - Stone Washed, Rust, Cranberry, Wild Plum, Color Box Pigment Ink - Silver, Memento Tuxedo Black

My fav new TV show is Miami Medical - hence the Sniff Sniff theme. The cute kleenex box is another Lockhart stamp. I used a mix of patterend papers on this card.
All members of the Fan Club can play with the DTGD challenges - so come along! you'll find them in the Forum under Split Coast Challenges!

Speedy the Cats' Friends Challenge #11 - Punch it Up!

I used a scalloped edge punch as well as a butterfly punch on my card today!

The stamp set is Apples and Camelia - one of the July sets being released next week! Inside I stamped Get Well Soon (one of the sentiments in the set).

I added a lot of black and white dots, the gingham ribbon and gold apple charm!

We'd love to have you join us in the challenges over on Marks Finest Papers Blog and to link your 'use punches' card there. You could win a free MFP stamp set!

Three from Split Coast

This weeks inspiration challenge over at Split Coast came from the Oompa Toy Store web site. I went with this green lunchbox

I stamped and over stamped a weed and floral stamp from Rubbernecker using two colors of green. I used the mesh embossing folder on my back panel and sponged everthing with Tea Dye ink. I paper pierced around 3 edges of the image panel and added a little bling to the corners.

For my sentiment - I used a piece of a panel I cut with Labels One Nestabilities.

Stamps: Rubbernecker: Florals #496-03, Weeds #497-14, Sentiment/Floral Silhouette #467
Paper: Ripe Avocado, Rustic White, Spring Moss - PTI
Ink: Ranger Distressed Tea Dye, Adirondack Lettuce & Willow, Brilliance Moonlight White
Accessories: Rhinestones - Kaiser, Paper piercer & pad - SU, Mesh Cuttlebug embossing folder, ink sponge applicator - Ranger, Twill ribbon - PTI, Labels One Nestabilities

Today's CAS challenge was to choose a cake from Carries Cakes web site for inspiration. I chose this blue pyramid cake

Here's what I stamped on the inside of my card. The sentiment is from Celtic Heritage.
Boy, what gorgeous cakes on this site!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps - Victorian Fripperie, Celtic Heritage
Paper: White, Hawaiian shores - PTI, DP Free digi paper - Sugar Plum Paper Daisies
Ink: Adirondack Espresso, Taken with Teal - SU
Accessories: adhesive paper ribbon - K&Co, Sticky Pearls, corner rounder punch, foam dimensionals

My third card is from the Try a New Technique challenge which was to make a flower (not just using a flower punch).
I made my flower using 4 scalloped circles that I sponged with Tea Dye ink and then crumpled up. I opened them up and attached a big black brad in the center (it has a reflection spot on it in the pic). I used the same DP for the flower as I used for the bg paper.
My stamps are from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps I made this flower before using 12 scalloped circles but you would never ever be able to mail a card with that thick of a flower on it!! Using just 4 circles is thin enough to mail (although it will squish I'm sure!)
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Fancy Phrases
Paper: White - PTI, black - SU, DP Unknown
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger distress Tea Dye
Accessories: prima artful flowers, glue dots, foam dimensionals, sponge applicator - Ranger, scallop circle punch - SU, large brad - American Crafts Elements

Embellish Color Label Challenge!

Finally! Here's my card for the Embellish Magazine Labels Color challenge. I've had this challenge printed out and sitting on my work table for a week or so and the deadline is 6/17 so I suddenly realized I'd better get my card made! Not only is the challenge from the beautiful new on line magazine - Embellish - but this month Waltzingmouse Stamps is sponsoring the challenge!

So the challenge is:
1) Use the colors yellow, brown and coral
2) create a label to highlight an image or sentiment.

My stamps are all WMS - the label is from Very Vintage Christmas and the sentiment it highlights is from Fancy Phrases. I embossed the card with the Textile Cuttlebug folder and punched the edge with a Martha Stewart punch. I sponged the sentiment oval before taking it out of the Nestability I cut it with. I layered it over the label with foam dimensionals.

I put a big eyelet on the end of the tag and the beautiful silk ribbon is tied through it and around the punched panel.

You can check out all the lovely challenge cards here. And you can add your own creation to Mr Linky if you get it done before 6/17/10 at 11:59 pm EST!!!

Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Very Vintage Christmas, Fancy Phrases
Paper: White, lemon tart, dark chocolate - PTI, Cameo Coral - SU
Ink: Dark chocolate - PTI, so saffron, cameo coral - SU

A Flowery Feel Better Card

scoopy (Emily) was the featured stamper over at Split Coast Stampers today - she has a gallery full of wonderful clean and simple cards - the kind of design I tend to gravitate towards!

I chose her pretty daisies in a row card to CASE today. I used different stamps and sentiment, and stamped my flowers on a panel framed by an embossed Nestability square.

My flowers and sentiment are by Waltzingmouse Stamps

Fun news! - The Waltzingmouse Design Team will be having a DT Blog Waltz on Tuesday June 1 highlighting some of Claire's first stamp sets. There will be WMS sets to win by leaving comments so be sure to come by!!!

Say Hello to Zenfangle With Buttons and a Bow!

What a fun technique for us to try this week for the Ways to Use It challenge on Split Coast! Guest Host Beverly (ruby-hearted mom) introduced us to the art called Zentangle using pen and ink -black ink!

Here's my humble first attempt at the technique. An upscale doodling if you will - I used my micron 01 pen, a Sharpie, a white gel pen (just a tad!) and a grey copic. I hand wrote the 'hello'

My image is on a 4" square that I framed with black, grey and white.

I always used to doodle on the sides of my notebooks in school (didn't we all?!?!) - this art form really takes it to the next level!

Beverly is visiting in Boston this week (from TX!) and I work in Boston - so I PM'd her to see where she was and we were able to get together for lunch! We'd never met but 'knew' each other from Split Coast. We hit it off like long lost friends - isn't the stamping community a great one to be involved in!?! Here we are enjoying a great lunch at Jacob Wirth's in the theater district of Boston. Then we walked around the Boston Public Garden, saw the swan boats, and hit a couple of shops!
Stamps: none
Paper: white - PTI, black - SU, Bazzill white and grey
Ink: none

And here's my card for Friday's Free 4 All Challenge at Split Coast - to use Buttons and Bows.
My stamps are from a beautiful set from Waltzingmouse Stamps called Asian Garden. I layered some extra tree leaves on the tree with foam dimensionals. I chose my colors based on the pretty DP.
I used this weeks Taylored Expressions sketch for my card.
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Asian Garden
Paper: White - PTI, DP GCD Studios/miniflowers/SUnny Days Collection, Coredinations/Oxford Ink: Enchanted Evening- PTI, Sunset Orange - Adirondack, Apricot Appeal - SU

Simply Get Well

This week on Split Coast my blogging friend, Cathleen, was the Featured Stamper - Whoo Hoo Cathleen!!! big congrats!!

There were several cards in her wonderful gallery that I wanted to CASE but finally settled on this Red Butterfly Happy Birthday I changed the colors and moved the sentiment, omitted the pin and made the top piece a panel.

I popped up the panel on foam dimensionals so the circle punches showed some depth. My sentiment is from Fancy Phrases by Waltzingmouse Stamps

And on the inside of my get well card, I used a sentiment from Autumn Abundance by Papertrey Ink.

I love the simplicity of this design - and it would work for birthday, thank you, sympathy - what ever kind of sentiment you wanted to use on it.
Stamps: Waltzingmouse - Fancy Phrases , Papertrey Ink - Autumn Abundance
Paper: Blue Bazzill, Vintage Cream - PTI
Ink: Enchanted Evening - PTI
Accessories: foam dimensionals, glue dots, gems - Taylored Expressions, butterfly punch - Martha Stewart, circle punches - EK success, Quickie Glue pen

A Get Well Spot of Tea

A fun home goods web site, The Huset Shop, from Sweden was hostess Anne's inspiration challenge for us today over on Split Coast. I chose this lovely tea cup as inspiration because I've been dying to try my new tea cup template from Waltzingmouse Stamps!I just printed out the template on white card stock, stamped the Big Blooms on the teacup and saucer pieces and assembled as instructed! How fun is this!!

I used Taylor's Friday Sketch for my coordinated get well card. The designer paper panels are WMS Digital Celtic Squares papers. The sentiment is cut with Labels Nine Nestabilities and the chrysanthemum is cut with Circles Nesties.
My project also counts for Sharon's No Time to Stamp Friday challenge - to make a female oriented card (or Mother's Day). I think a tea cup fits the bill!!

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mother's out there! My son is taking me out to dinner tomorrow -whoo hoo!!

Claire is celebrating WMS's 1st anniversary this May and to mark the occasion she is releasing 8 wonderful new stamp sets! You'll want to start making your shopping list right now!

I'm using Big Blooms today as well as sentiments from Asian Garden (I'll be using some of the images from this pretty set tomorrow!) and Fancy Phrases.

First, I have a get well card using both the solid and outline chrysanthemums in the Big Blooms set and sentiments from Asian Garden. This card is 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"

I also stamped the inside of my card.

My second project is a little canvas bag that I stamped with the Big Blooms chrysanthemums as well as one of the leaves in the set. This sentiment is from the new set Fancy Phrases. (ETA: I bought this cute canvas bag on a stamping web site a few years ago - they no longer carry them and I haven't been able to find any exactly like it yet. Michaels has a slightly larger one in white but it's not as nice!)
You'll really want to check out the rest of the WMS DT who are showing sneak peeks today : Belinda, Anya, Laurie, Lynn , Bonnie, Jennifer and our Claire.

I haven't been posting as much this week because I've been on vacation and doing some fun things with the DH like taking walks and going to movies (we saw It's Complicated - how funny was that!?!?! I just LOVE Meryl Streep), visiting my sister for lunch and cleaning up the house a bit! I've also been busy on some DT work that I can't share just yet!
But I do have several more magnetic book marks to show you that I made for some friends.

This one uses the beautiful Celtic cross from the WMS Celtic Heritage set and a sentiment from Notes of Prayer by Verve Stamps

Just a pic of the sticky magnet strips inside the bookmark.

The next 4 bookmarks all use stamps from PTI - Tea for Two, Damask Designs, In Bloom and Wishing You.
Useful little gifts for the book lovers in your life!
Tonight I'm off to teach at the Stamping Around weekend. I'll have some pics to share on Sunday!
