A Biker, a Dog and a Skateboarder!

I've got three cards to share today -  all using Rubbernecker Stamps and all from challenges over at Split Coast.

This first card was made for this weeks Featured Stamper challenge. We got to check out Tami Mayberry's lovely gallery and pick one to CASE.

I chose her Enjoy the Ride card as it reminded me of this dapper on a bike stamp I recently got from Rubbernecker. 

When you CASE a card you have to change some things -  so I changed the image, the colors and stamped an argyle background instead of scoring lines but kept her theme and basic sketch. The image and sentiment are stamped directly on the patterned paper.

My next two cards were made for the Featured Stamper challenge of a week ago -  Stamper Camper (Mary) had so many fun cards in her gallery - I CASED two of them!

I loved the design of her  fun Happy Bird-Day card

I used a cute little doggie and dog sentiment from Rubbernecker instead of a bird and I used a brick wall embossing folder instead of swiss dots.

For my last card -  I CASED Mary's  On the Grow card.

I used a little skateboarder named Billy and sentiment from Rubbernecker instead of the motorbike, different colors and a star instead of a bow!

 It's always good to have some kids cards handy in my stash!  I didn't have too many kids stamps but with these fun new Rubbernecker kids stamps my supply has grown!

Happy Father's Day to the New Dad Nephews

Both of my nieces (my sister's daughters) have new baby boys -  Katie and Greg have 9 month old Landon and Christie & Nate have 3 week old Sweet Baby James.   So I just had to make Father's Day cards for the new dads!  And I made them as if the 'boys' were giving them to their father's.

Here's Landon's card to his dad, Greg.

Isn't he a little doll!?!   I just love him to pieces (Landon that is!)  and he just happens to be sporting cool blue star sunglasses that his Great Aunt Julia (ie ME) gave him at our Memorial Day cookout!  And notice how I had the perfect paper to match his shorts??!!

And here's what I stamped on the inside bringing the star theme inside too!   These great stamps are from a set called Father Figure by Verve.

Next up is the card from Sweet Baby James to his Dad, Nate.  James is just the sweetest little thing, not even 1 month old yet - he has really long fingers (maybe he'll play the piano??!) and seems so tiny next to his cousin Landon!
 

 As you can see - Nate and James spend a lot of quality time together - catching up on their sleep!  I thought these pics were so sweet of the two of them....  I used the same stamps on this card.

Dad's Stuff

Here's a fun gift idea for Dad for Father's Day - or any day!

I painted an unfinished wooden container from Michaels with brown acrylic paint and then adhered this fun ruler paper on all sides cutting it slightly smaller then each panel.

I stamped a grid background and Dad's Stuff , both from Waltzingmouse, on a Nestability scalloped tag and sponged the edges. Then I just tied a rope twine around it and tucked the tag under the rope.

This would be great on Dad's workbench or desk to hold all those little things needed at arms reach!

Gone Fishin'

Father Dan was an interim priest at our church who recently retired after being with us for over a year. He likes to fish - so I made this fun tackle box to give him on his last Sunday with us.

I purchased the pattern from Lisa at Stamndesign (she is SO clever!!) it also includes a fishing vest card pattern that I haven't tried making yet.
Look how wonderfully it is designed to open up on hinges and have the little compartment tray inside! It was really easy to make even though it looks very complicated! The tab on the cover just slips behind the metal name frame to close. If you wanted to be able to pick it up by the handle - you could use a piece of velcro instead.

The hinges are made with the SU word window punch and you use an oval punch to make the pieces on the corners.

I stamped these little Bible Verse cards to put inside the compartments of the box. I also tucked in some gummy worms and red fish candies in the larger section (as well as a gift certificate for him) I forgot to take a picture of the candies - they looked really cute in there.

A great gift for any fisher-person in your life don't you think??? Especially perfect for upcoming Father's Day!!

Fish for Father

I made this card for two challenges - the sketch challenge on Split Coast and for this week's DoubleDog Dare Challenge I do with some SCS friends. Anne (itsapassion) was hostess this week - and her challenge was to use a real piece of newspaper on your card (!?!?!). That stumped me at first - but then I suddenly thought of wrapping fish in newspaper -so here it is! See - that's why we have challenges - to make us think of things we wouldn't usually do!! A Tin for Dad

I made this altered Altoid tin for the Ways to use it challenge on Split Coast -to create a 3D item from a tin. I made mine a container for a Dad to keep his lures in such as this Bass Popper (so my DH tells me). All the images and sentiments are from a new stamp set from H&M Stamps called Just for Dad.

I cut the Cosmo Cricket designer paper to fit the top and sides - then sanded the edges of the top to fit closely and sponged everything with So Saffron Ink. I attached the ribbon to the rim with tacky tape. Inside, the bottom is lined with a piece of felt to hook the lures into to hold them secure.

I have about 10 of these empty Altoid tins just waiting for a project like this to come along to get me to use one!!

Eat, Sleep, Fish - with Mojo

On this card I used the Try a New Technique challenge on Split Coast. We were instructed how to do embossed wax paper . I used the Forest Branches Cuttlebug folder for my background embossing the waxed paper then placing it between 2 pieces of glossy card stock shiny side in and then ironing it without steam. You remove and discard the wax paper - and then ink the glossy card stock with die ink and a brayer.

The fun fishing stamps are from a newly released set by H&M Stamps called Just for Dad. It also includes hunting stamps for the guys in your life that are into those outdoor activities. The set also includes quite a few fun sentiments so be sure to check it out!

I used the Mojo Monday Sketch for my card.

Now that I look at it - doesn't the background look like the ripples in a lake?? A happy accident - I was just going for the outdoors look with the Forest Branches folder. I guess I should have used a blue or greenish blue ink?!?!

Just to let you know - I have a several activities coming up and probably won't be posting for a few days. I have Bible Study tomorrow night - and then my niece, Katie, is getting married on Saturday - so we have the wedding rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Thursday night, a little pre-wedding cocktail party at Katie's sister's house on Friday and then the wedding on Saturday.

Dad's Cabin

First off - I wanted to let you all know that I'm probably not going to be posting for the next few days. I have a lot of things going on including going to a wedding and celebrating Memorial Day Weekend. So don't worry when you don't see any new posts from me for a few days!

Today's card is a combination of 2 challenges over at Split Coast - yesterdays sketch challenge and today's Ways to Use it Challenge - to use a masculine topic on your card.

Here is the sketch we were given.

I've been dying to use my fun little cabin from H&M's stamps - Dad's Outdoors set, that I just got recently. They are having some new sets for sale on 5/25 so be sure to check out the site. So I inked up the cabin today along with the boots, lantern and sign that are all part of the set (there's also some fishing stuff and a Happy Father's Day sentiment stamp - check it out!). I used the trees backgrounder stamp from Cornish Heritage Farms and some great stone path designer paper by Provocraft both give the feeling of outdoors to the card I think. All of the stamped items are cut out and attached with dimensionals. I colored everything with my Prismacolor markers.

My dream is to someday own a real log cabin home in the mountains somewhere - but for now this little cabin stamp set will have to do!

An Early Father and Blogging with A Purpose Award

Hi everyone! I've been working on some cards that I'm going to bring to a local shop - hopefully to sell (!) Some of those I'm bringing are these Father's Day cards. I'm sure you've seen these fun origami shirts before - this year I added some cute ties from Hero Arts to mine. You can see instructions for the shirt as well as some fun variations in the Try a New Technique forum on Split Coast here.

The Dad and dots stamp is from the new Verve Visual Set called Father Figure. I also used a cuttlebug folder on the panal. The cardstock is Kraft.

The Father definition stamp is by Paper Inspirations and I used another Cuttlebug panel on the Caramel card base for this set of cards. The panels are Naturals Ivory, Certainly Celery and Basic Black. The Hero Arts ties come in a set of 3 and each one has a different pattern on it. I just stamped them in black on colored card stock and matched each one up to the dp that I used for the shirts. I think these little shirts are just so cute!

I just found out today that Deb gave me this very nice award.

Two Cards to Share - Sympathy and Paper Pieced Father's Day

I have two cards to share with you tonight - my card for the Split Coast Featured Stamper challenge and a Father's Day card using the technique of paper piecing that was a challenge on Sharon's No Time to Stamp blog on Friday.

First up is my sympathy card which is a Case (copy and share with everyone) of a card made by Laura (Scrapnextras on SCS). You can see her card here. She has a wonderful gallery on Split coast and a wonderful blog that you should check out!

When you copy a featured stamper you are supposed to change at least 2 things on your card. I used different stamps and a different edge punch and I used all soft sky instead of adding white CS. I used twill instead of ribbon and did alternating black and white dots for doodling. I put some Diamond Glaze over the blossoms to add a little shine but I don't think you can see it in the photo.

I put a sympathy sentiment inside my card - but this could also be a card for saying you are sorry for hurting someone's feelings or for having a disagreement with someone.

My second card was made for Sharon's Friday challenge on her blog - No Time to Stamp. The challenge was to use paper piecing on your card. The tie on this cute dog is paper pieced. I stamped the dog image on the vanilla card stock. Then I stamped it again on a piece of blue designer paper (same as the background panel). Then I cut out just the tie piece from the stamping on the blue and attached it over the tie stamped on the vanilla. I colored in my dog with my Prismacolor markers. The dog and sentiment are up on dimensionals. The card is small - 4.5 x 4.5 size. I put it in a regular size envelope when I mail it though so it only costs the regular first class postage rate. If you put it in a small envelope it costs more because it is off-size.

This is such a great techique - you should try it if you haven't already. It works really great on the Chef stamp by Stampin Up - and on all the headless figures (!) of My Favorite Things stamps - and the Hanna's dresses, etc, etc!
